Our class Motat trip
Yesterday, we went on a school trip to Motat to learn more about simple machines. zIn my group there was Cordell, Andrew, Gammado, John (me), Joshua, Damsey and our parent helper Lynnet, Cordells mum.
First, we got our bags and lined up ready to hop on the bus. Once we got on the bus we had to share two seats between three people because there are were too many of us. When we made it to Motat this lady called Cathrine told us the rules here. 1. Do not run anywhere in the area because it is a working museum. 2. Have fun!. We walked down to the building where we eat and put our bags down. On the way, we heard a rattle and a bell ringing. It was the tram that came along the tracks, we had to move over to the side. Once we got in we had some morning tea. Cathrine said where things were and the boundaries. I was in group 2 so we got to explore Motat first.
Next, we went to the village to see the old houses, they were really creepy because there were dolls and there were photos. One of the building was a school. The school had desks and had a chalkboard. As we walked along we saw a prison, inside was a maniquene lying down in a blanket. In the other room, there were some things the guards or police officers used like a baton, a lizer.
After, we went to the Innovators to see what people have made. I went on the trampoline, on the trampoline there was a tv and you had to step and bounce in the right area it was like that game with the hammer and you need to hit them back in the hole. We saw lots of things that we could use and play with.
Suddenly... we found out there was a games room. We quickly rushed over there without running, because that was the rule. In it, there were old arcade games like spacey's and Pac Man. We spend about 20 minutes in there because it was fun. We then went into the old tv room where there were old images and radios. We saw this small room in the back and we could call people and morse code people with the buzzer thing.
Talking about phones, after we were walking and saw a red telephone box I went in it and you could call real people for 10 cents but only there landline not mobile. In this building there was a diorama of a intersection on a road and you could flick a switch and change the traffic lights. We saw two phones and you can call each other, also there was a morse code machine where you could morse code each other and guess what they said.
We then met up in the teaching building where Cathrine showed us the simple machines. We had to make a machine with at least two simple machines in it. I made a wheel and axle with a pulley.
After we had lunch and I had subway, it was delicious. We had a drink of water and then we got to go on the tram ride. "Yippee" Andrew said laughing. We went on the tram and the driver Paul rang the bell and took off. We made it up to the zoo and we saw a one seated car that went slow. We got up to the tram light and the light broke. We waited until it worked. It did, on the way back we got on the bus back to school I enjoyed it. The end.

Tug Of War!
Hello, last week our classroom did a Tug of War! we were learning about gravity and forces
We were later writing about what had happened so I would like to share with you my awesome story of what had happened hope you like it and enjoy my piece of writing.
Yesterday we did a tug of war to see the forces oppose each other.
We had to collaborate and use teamwork to help each other and win.
We had to pull the rope with our hands and it hurt.
Do you think shoes, socks or bare feet have more friction?
The socks had less friction. The socks were really slippery when we had to pull we were
basically sliding and we were falling over.
The shoes had more friction because the shoes had grip and they held on for a while until the
friction went and it wouldn't grip.
Bare feet had grip as well as friction. You had to use forces to
move the rope. You needed to have a good grip on your hands.
Secondly, we had to push and pull. There were two opposing forces pulling the rope from each side.
The end with the most pull force and weight made the other end drag.
We had different strength and technique on doing it and different technique on how to pull.
Some will wrap the rope around there hand, some will hold all the rope or people just sit down and pull
as hard as they could. On the other hand, when one side has more force it accelerates. When it went forward it was
thrust. We were on two teams boys vs girls and when it came to all of us doing it the boys fell over on each other.
If we had two heavy people on each side and two light people on each side the
rope won’t move because the weight is the same and is balanced.
But if it was one heavy person and one light person than the rope will move and the rope won't be balanced.
Finally, it was funny when semisi was lying down and said: “ahh my leg hurts ahh!”.

When you got the card there was a spinning wheel that tells your fate when you die. I have changed it to being a plane.

THE UNWANTED BANDIT WHO WANTS A COURIER
My name is John and im a old student at Wesley primary. I have two goals that I want to achieve.
My goal is to be a professional footballer. I have been playing soccer for about 3 years now and basically I have played almost everyday at school. Me and my friends play soccer at morning tea and lunch time. I practice and that make me better at controlling the ball. I was introduces to soccer when I was young and was watching TV and saw a guy kicking a ball and that made fell "wow that cool".
Once I retire I want to become a teacher following the foot steps of our shiny teacher Mr Vega. I want to teach at a primary school. Since I am learning a lot at the moment I think I know a bit about how to teach a small audience.

Today we were learning about vocabulary and knowing what the words are meaning and what type of word are they such as a noun, adjective, verb and adverb.
Maritime museum
Maritime Museum
On Thursday we went to the Maritime Museum in Auckland. We were ecstatic to go.
First we packed our bags on the bus and lined up in our groups. We all hopped onto the bus and sat in our seats. It took about 15 minutes.
Next we hopped off the bus and went into the huge entrance. Above us was a giant ship hanging above the drive way. "hello" shouted the man. "hello" exclaimed us happily. We went into the education center in the building.
Afterwards we went into the room and had a briefing about emergency and we had a small morning tea. Then we started to go on the boat called the Ted Asbhy. It was as rocky as the waves.

Learning mission
Hello today in math we were learning about sums and percentages. Here are some data sheets that I have been working on today. The data was really hard to find out and the sums were hard adding them up. The bit that I enjoyed the most was the adding up the percentages. I learnt a lot of things that you can do on google sheets and I learnt a lot on data. Maybe next time Mr Vega should explain how to add the percentages and sums.
Similes word cloud
Today in room 6 we were learning about how to write similes and what good vocabulary we can use to create them. This is one of the ones that I did about a puzzle piece. The other week we got a box sent to us to write a poem. when making this it changes your vocabulary and lets you express your words onto the website. If you want to make one go onto Abcya.com. These words I chose because they are better words such as e.g: big, little, scary. Here are 2 examples of what similes are. 1. the puzzle was as colorful as a rainbow. 2. cute as a teddy bear. This is what you say. ____was as ____ as ___ And you fill in the spaces. Bye.

Floating
Floating at the maritime museum
What are life jackets
Life jackets are jackets that help you float when your in the water. They are made from a lot of different material. When your boat sinks or if you are in the water the life jackets keep you out of the water. You must always use a life jacket in the water to keep you and others in a safe place.
What type are we using?
The life jackets that we are using are have more buckles and have a head rest to keep our heads out of the deep blue sea. Or we might wear a Inflatable life jacket that will inflate when you pull the string.
Learning with captain Vega
Our awesome captain Vega at our school teaches us about safety towards boats and reading texts about boats and Immigration. We have been working on research on the maritime museum and the boat that we will be going on.
How we know how to keep safe
We know how to keep safe by us making some rules at the facility. the Rules show us how to be respectful
Cool life jackets
Life jackets are cool, they save you life and when we go to the trip we are going to be wearing them for health and safety.

The Annual math lesson
Today we had an outdoor experience while we were doing math. Our fabulous math teacher Mr Vega told us some new math equations by telling us to write the operation and the symbols, Expanded maths etc. I really enjoyed the thrill in the maths questions. I felt triumphant when I got the questions right. Maybe next time we could do maths a bit more differently.

Protest Of the cook Islands
Captain James cook went to the pacific Islands and found a new Island. Which is now called the cook Islands. Named after Captain Cook. But Now people are protesting about should they rename it.
Charting New Zealand
Captain Cook charting our Islands
I strongly recommend the book Captain cook charting our Islands. It talks about where Cook went and what he did to anchor his ship to the ground. The part I found interesting was that it tells you what soundings are and little fact that people may not know. It produces deep detail in the text For level 4
( Year 7 & 8). My thoughts of Captain cook has changed after reading this specific text. Captain cook had his way of charting down Islands and country's on his chart map. I thought that Cook had to go all around and just guess how to map it. This book would be great for people who loves Interesting facts
About sailing and voyaging.

Sailing The Pacific
Sailing The Pacific Maria Samuel's
Polynesians sailed all across the pacific Ocean. They navigated using the stars and sun from morning to evening. Birds migrate to places so the Polynesians follow them to the land that they are going to. Ocean swells Is water moving slowly around and so people follow them. Clouds were followed by the early Polynesians.
I wonder how the Polynesians keep up with the birds?
I wonder how they knew how to navigate?
I wonder How the Polynesians battle the storms?
I recommend this Journal to you because it has a variety of ways the Polynesians navigated. This book has changed my thought of how they navigated and what technique they have towards sailing. Id'e suggest this book being read by students and people that love sailing and navigating. This book has a lot of detail about what methods early Polynesians used. This book hooks the reader into what they are wanting out of the book.

Maritime museum
Maritime museum New Zealand
I think that you should go to the Maritime museum because there is a lot of learning about boats and voyaging. My school is going to the Maritime museum to learn about immigration and identity. This term we are learning about immigration and identity we are learning about the treaty of Waitangi, way finders etc. We are looking forward to go on the trip. Especially if your school is learning something around voyaging and waka's. Your school should go there because there is a sail ship called the Ted Ashby. I've heard that you will be able to go sailing in the ship across the harbor in Auckland. Fun fact: the Ted Ashby was first launched in 1993.
For all the teachers don't be scared they provide life jackets for everyone for safety reasons. Maritime museum is for people that love sailing it also has a peter Blake area in the facility.

My Hoe Waka
Today Iv'e created a hoe waka which is a paddle. We colored them and then we laminated them. I know you would be wondering what's the whole purpose of
making them. Well... Its because your meant to represent your culture, my culture is
kiwi and that is why I chose these maori and kiwi fern patterns.
